Drawing
Drawing is a continuous and central part of Saleem’s practice, enabling the documenting, processing and exploration of ideas, themes, forms and through this developing his visual language. Some of Saleem’s sketchbooks and drawings have been acquired for the permanent collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum, which describes them as follows:
‘Saleem’s sketchbooks are filled with both observational and imaginative drawings which he uses to document and respond to buildings and places he has seen, and to explore themes central to his work.’
For Saleem the drawing is at the root of all his work, it is a space of exploration and imagination which informs all of his outputs, whether they be architectural, graphic or film as well as thinking, writing and teaching.
